I believe that actually using silver/silver plated rosaries help prevent tarnish. I have been making rosaries with silver plated chain and eye pins and was disheartened that several pairs I have kept for a few months, unused,had tarnished terribly. I had made small leather pouches to store them in and recently read that leather gives of a gas that reacts with silver making it tarnish quicker.
